I Knew I missed a Post

I had mentioned to Susan, about 4 years ago, that if I was a terrorist I would not be planning to use a plane or commit any other sort of large-scale destruction plan in the near future.

I has said that it would be wiser to do some really nasty hacking and ruin the U.S. economy (perhaps by wiping out all computer records of debt); a sort of terrorist-initiated "year of Jubilee."

Well... Lookee what's been said now...

How to Help

Well - folks who hear you have a new baby often say, "let us know if your need anything."

Usually, most folks don't look for help. We are.

Since Susan had a C-section, she won't be allowed to lift things as heavy as Eve. I can't be home for all of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday upcoming.

So - anyone who wants to visit and play "Mary Poppins" to Eve for any amount of time those days would be appreciated...

We'd also welcome any house-cleaning. Daddy already cooks and does laundry, but Susan is the cleaner. We're a bit behind on that...

Baby Born

More details to follow. Tired man must sleep.

Tired mommy already sleeping.

Seth Charles arrived at 5:25 PM 11-15-06.

He's 8 pounds.

This is why Susan needed a C-section.

Of course, we didn't know she needed a C-section until she had been in labor (hereby to be defined as "contractions that can't be slept-through") since 5PM 11-14-06.

By 11 PM 11-14, she knew she had to go to the Birthing Center.
By 2:30 AM, Daddy was sleeping while she was trying to between contractions.
By 7AM, we were told that she had only dilated to 4 cm. Bursting her water at 7AM resulted in dilation of 5cm.
By 11AM, she asked for an epidural (so that she could finally sleep during the Contractions).
By 1PM, she was only at 7cm.
By 3PM she was at 9cm.
By 5PM, it was determined that 9 was as far as she would go, but the head wasn't fitting through (it was becoming pointed trying).
So - they sent her for the C-Section.

Still no Baby

We have an appointment today to determine if/when we should induce labor.

Until then, Susan remains a "great sport."

I'm on "Family Medical Leave" until Friday. I hope we pop out a kid by then.

Oh - and the due date was this past Friday. So, as any good teacher would do, I shall now begin deducting points from Susan and New Baby's "group project" assignment.

You paid attention during 97% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

So How About That Election

I have not yet turned on a radio or checked any news sites.

But, after my voting experience yesterday, I can predict a few things...

1 - Democrats did well, in most of the country.
2 - Republicans will be dragging many elections through the courts.
3 - Many races still can't be decided by this hour this morning, as they'll still have a pile of paper ballots to count.

Now to check the news, etc. How'd I do?

Youth Comes Back to Haunt

When working with my High School Chorus today, we developed some motions/signs to help us remember the text of one of our selections. Afterwards, I related (as I often do after this activity) a story about coming up with motions to an old song as a camp counselor.

More than a decade ago, a friend and I became quite annoyed with the constant song request for "Awesome God" at every staff gathering. So, we developed some motions that frequently mocked the song.

After relating this to the class, some kids started to DO THESE VERY MOTIONS! It turns out, these motions have stuck with TOO many people and have, in fact, MADE IT INTO THE STAFF MANUAL for LUTHERAN CAMP COUNSELORS!

Oy!

If your motions include "rain" instead of "reign," a "slicing of the wrists" motion for "Shed His blood," a "thumbs up" and a "point upwards" for "Awesome God" and/or "a slap on the forehead" for "not be forgotten;" these motions are a FARCE. Please, spread the word...

And you thought John Kerry's "jokes" were bad. Worse things can haunt you for much longer....
