At this point, I might need to assume that MY job has been offered to my Nemesis.
So, I shall have to rearrange my hopes.
Here's hoping that one or more of the following scenarios occurs.
Nemesis:
"I can only afford to take this job if you throw in a Hummer made of gold to sweeten the pot."
or...
Nemesis:
"Only had two hits off the joint before I came to sign the papers. Was that wrong?"
or...
Nemesis:
"FBI clearances you say... That could be a bit of a..." (Suddenly disappears in a puff of smoke and flame.)
or...
Nemesis:
"Did I happen to mention my debilitating narcolepsy? HA - you can't back off now! You've already offered the position! What? 'Nothing in writing means nothing was said?' What's that supposed to mean?"
or...
Nemesis:
"For my first inservice lesson, I will need access to chainsaws and Folger's Crystals."

I'm proud of my mommy.
She has a Blog.
I hoped to have special news for you today... So far, no phone call and no letter...

So - did you get your "Stimulus" Check yet?
What are you gonna do with it?
We're getting $1800.
We still owe $1750 for the 2006 tax error (I failed to pay the "other" tax we owed). The $1750 is sitting on a credit card with 0% interest until June. As of June 1st, the interest rate will likely shoot up to about 36%.
So...
We might go out to eat with the remaining $50.

I had a 2nd interview this past Tuesday. I actually enjoyed the group of people and my time with them; a unique occurrence for an interview. It could've gone better, though, as I felt mildly stumped by some queries. I also nervously plugged my microphone into my headphone jack to start things off...
I'm really hoping that "the other guy" had a worse time at his interview. I'm hoping his went something like this...
Mr. Administrator:
"So how comfortable are you with 'Data Driven instruction...'"
My Nemesis:
(With a crazed, wild-eyed look)
"Data-driven is devil-driven..."
Mr. Administrator:
"Mmmmm...OK.....'"
My Nemesis:
"And by Devil-driven, I mean that Satan is the lord of numbers and he's not just IN the details, he tweaks the 'twos' until they burn my soul..."
Mr. Administrator:
"Mmmmm...OK.....'"
Mr. Administrator:
"So - how would you hold teachers accountable for using the technology you just taught them?"
My Nemesis:
"With a blood-oath, of course...
Mr. Administrator:
"Thank you for coming, we'll let you know next week..."
(Door closes)
Nice Boss-Guy:
"Well, there's a keeper!"

I took the whole day off from work to interview for a whole new work day.
It turns out, I might've been able to call it a "sick day" today. The few hours I was home with kids that were awake either involved crying, puking, sleeping, or a combination of the aforementioned. I hope to avoid the same illness until at least Friday.
Again - here's hoping and praying that there's a new job on the horizon. Nothing against my current employers, but I'd like a career that doesn't feel like a constant struggle to spin plates on chainsaws while someone keeps yelling that "you're doing it wrong..."
Really? There's a "right" way to spin the plates on the chainsaws?
Why yes. You're supposed to make the chainsaws behave more like poles.
But I was using poles. Then I came in to work and was informed that all of the poles were replaced with chainsaws.
Don't fret too much. Next year we're not expecting you to spin the plates. We just need you to levitate them, using the chainsaws. Oh. And they won't be plates. We're replacing them with Folger's Crystals. Let's see if anyone notices...
So - if I'm still where I am next year, it's OK. I think I can still blow enough hot air to make instant coffee appear to be a levitating plate.

Quick note.
Brad/Dave... Amazon currently has both series of Dexter available for cheap episode downloads (Unbox Video). Some episodes are free.

Traditionally, I lament my birthday. Fellow friends, family, and coworkers attempt, in many ways, to encourage me to enjoy the day as something special. Usually, though, May 1st is simply packed with everything I'd rather not be doing.
Today, it was still packed with things I'd rather not do:
- Prepare for a concert on Sunday. The concert features participants of whom only 20% are actually accomplished singers and at least 40% are defiantly opposed to appearing to be actual singers. The remaining 40% are exceptionally average performers. As I see the math, there's a 60% chance of pathetic.
-Performing for "Law Day" ceremonies. For those of you unfamiliar with "Law Day..." Well, simply put, it's far from my Patriotic leanings.
-Waiting for service at a family restaurant. We've been really good about "in and out" at Friendly's, but tonight they were fairly incompetent. They were slow enough that I was actually able to convince Susan to leave without getting the free icecream. We arrived at 4:40. We didn't leave until 6PM. That's an eternity with a 3 and 1.5 year old.
On the positive:
-I have an awesome family. Their hugs are gift enough.
-My Elementary kids were exceptionally kind to me today.
-My Family was exceptionally great in coping with the slow service.
and
I have an interview for a potential new job! I got the phone call today. It was a nice present. I'd love to work with these folks... Here's hopin'!
